Ocean
Explorations uses Large* Safe Zodiacs.
We build our
boats specifically to meet the rigorous demands of whale watching.
Also known as a RIB these craft are constructed with a conventional
planing hull together with an inflatable collar for increased
buoyancy and stability. These unique high performance craft
represent the very latest in boating technology. RIBs are
renown for their seaworthiness and are currently used world
wide for commercial and search and rescue applications.
Features:
For your safety and comfort we have specially designed seats
that offer full support plus a soft ride.
Seating is
forward facing and easily accommodates 12 passengers and crew,
with plenty of dry storage.
Boats are powered by twin 150hp Mariner Outboards. We use
two engines for added reliability and safety.
For precise navigation, particularly in limited visibility
conditions each vessel is fully equipped with Radar, Depth
Sounder, compass
and a Global
Positioning System.
Communication is vital. In addition to VHF marine radios and
cellular, we use a private trunk radio system. This system
is similar to what the police use. Trunk radios increase our
communication range and enable our guides, whale spotters
and office staff to work together successfully.
Each vessel is also equipped with an under water acoustic
listening system (hydrophone) for listening to whale vocalizations.
Our vessels are coast guard inspected on an annual basis,
they meet and exceed the highest standards and are always
maintained in top condition.
